What Dyslexly does not collect

Dyslexly is designed with privacy as a core principle. The extension:

What is stored locally

Your settings (font preferences, spacing, overlay colour, etc.) are stored using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.sync API. This syncs your settings across your devices using your Google account — exactly like Chrome bookmarks. This data is managed by Google and subject to their privacy policy.

Reading stats (pages viewed with Dyslexly active, words spoken by TTS) are stored locally using chrome.storage.local and never leave your device.

Licence key validation

If you purchase a Pro licence, the extension sends a single API request to dyslexly.com/api/validate-licence containing only your licence key. No browsing data, personal information, or page content is included. This request is made once on install and then cached for 24 hours.

Website (dyslexly.com)

When you visit dyslexly.com:

Data retention

Licence records are retained for the duration of your subscription plus 90 days for dispute resolution, then deleted.

Children's privacy

Dyslexly is used in schools and by children. It collects no personal data from any user, including children. Schools using Dyslexly under a school licence can confirm no student data is collected.

Your rights (UK GDPR)

You have the right to access, correct, or delete any data we hold about you. Email [email protected] for any data requests. We aim to respond within 72 hours.
